Quote: You'll never see it coming.
Background: An only child born into a fairly old and rich Thai wizarding family, Ten had been partially spoiled and partially ignored his entire life. His father had always lavished attention on his only son, but work for the Ministry's International Affairs department kept him traveling too much for it to be a constant thing. Even moving the entire family to Korea didn't help very much. His mother, being a self-centered, spoiled brat due to her own upbringing, loved him dearly, but found it hard to pay him very much attention most days. She only managed to homeschool him as long as she had a friend over to help, since she would often wander off for various reasons and forget he was sitting by, waiting for instruction. She had only even had a child because it was expected of her from her husband's family. However, she always greatly disliked that she'd passed on being a metamorphmagus to her son. During her childhood, she'd been bullied and treated badly by her peers for being one, either out of jealousy or out of just plain finding her abilities too strange, and so she'd grown to hate what she was. Finding the traits in her son, she immediately began to teach him that it was nothing to enjoy or be proud of. This was why Ten found it so hard to express emotions for quite a long time, since his abilities were directly tied to them. If he didn't become joyous, for example, his hair wouldn't suddenly burst into vibrant reds, was his reasoning. Of course, it is impossible to never feel anything, but living in that kind of environment, he actually began to find it more difficult to show how he felt, and when he did, it often ended up being very embarrassing to him.
Because of his father being gone so often, and his mother often being too busy with her own activities and parties, Ten spent most of his time alone, finding it difficult to make friends because he didn't know how to relate to them. His family being very wealthy and of the belief that pure-blood wizards and witches were superior to any others, his acquaintances had usually been picked out for him, and not met randomly and according to how well they got along. Due to this, and the fact that he often seemed so aloof and disinterested in other people, these other children usually eventually began to ignore him and leave him alone completely. Although this made him sad sometimes, he had no idea how to convey that, and how to try and convince them to be friends with him. Ten's acceptance to the school, therefore, was an exciting occasion because it meant he would be surrounded by people he could meet properly, and perhaps he would actually make friends there.
Other than that, his childhood was fairly normal and boring. No one was surprised when he showed his proclivity toward magic, especially since his metamorph abilities had demonstrated since the day he was born. In fact, he still can't think of anyone he knows who isn't magical, and he has a creeping feeling that if he hadn't turned out to be, something bad might have happened to him long ago.
During his time at school, he was indeed able to grow and learn how to process his emotions a little more easily. There are always bullies and people with terrible attitudes, but even now, he still hasn't encountered such horrible things his mother had warned him of since he could understand her words. It's a process, however, but he's learning to let go and allow his emotions to show, and even when that causes an unexpected physical change, he no longer runs and hides. He's even managed to earn himself a spot on the Quidditch team as seeker, even though victory quite often causes so much joy he can't contain it, something that would have paralyzed him with fear just a few years ago.
